The Sta'O'Nuk cable system is Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) first dedicated, privately owned transpacific submarine cable. Designed to deliver over 420 Terabits per second (Tbps) of high-capacity, low-latency bandwidth across 20 fiber pairs, Sta'O'Nuk directly connects North America to Japan. Slated for operational activation in 2029, the system introduces a geographically diverse route that bypasses traditional ocean chokepoints—marking the first international subsea cable landing in Washington state in nearly three decades.
