ORCA

The ORCA submarine cable system connects Toucheng, Taiwan, with Hermosa Beach and Manchester in California, the United States.

The ORCA cable system consists of three main segments:

  • Main Trunk: connecting Toucheng CLS in Taiwan, with a branching unit off of the California coast, with a cable length of 10,894 km and six fiber pairs.
  • Hermosa Beach Branch: connecting Hermosa Beach CLS in California, with a branching unit on the Main Trunk, with a cable length of 1,116 km and six fiber pairs.
  • Manchester Branch: connecting Manchester, California, with a branching unit on the Main Trunk, with a cable length of 472 km and two fiber pairs.

The ORCA cable system is designed with 12.8 Tbps per fiber pair, for a total system capacity of 76.8 Tbps, using current technology.

The ORCA cable system is owned and operated by Meta, through its subsidiaries, in collaboration with partners.

The ORCA cable system is supplied by Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN), expected to be ready for service in Q1 2027.
