AAG cable network forms a linear trans-Pacific route, spans 20,000km directly between the South East Asia and the USA, with trunk route between Malaysia and the USA via Hong Kong, the Philippines, Guam and Hawaii, with branches into Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam. AAG cable network offers the shortest latency between Hong Kong and the US west coast.

AAG Cable System

Similar with other trans-Pacific submarine cable systems, such as TPE, TGN-Pacific and Unity, AAG cable network also forms a linear trans-Pacific route, with different optical fiber pairs in different segments:

AAG cable network offers the shortest latency between Hong Kong and the US west coast. And latency (round trip delay, RTD) parameters between cable landing stations in AAG network are listed as belows:

  • USA - Hong Kong: 150 ms
  • USA - Singapore: 178 ms
  • USA - Malaysia: 177 ms
  • USA - Hawaii: 43 ms
  • Hawaii - Guam: 67 ms
  • Guam - Manila: 32 ms
  • Hong Kong - Philippines: 12 ms
  • Hong Kong - Singapore: 28 ms
  • Hong Kong - Malaysia: 27 ms
  • Hong Kong - Brunei: 35 ms
  • Hong Kong - Vietnam: 20 ms
  • Hong Kong - Thailand: 41 ms

Besides the short latency between South East Asia and the USA, the AAG cable network offers diverse trans-Pacific cable route, has significant advantages over the traditional trans-Pacific routes (via the North Pacific) as it avoids the areas most prone to seismic activity off the Taiwan region, which have previously resulted in damage to undersea cables and network disruptions.
