stc Group has launched the first high-speed cable in the Red Sea, known as Saudi Vision Cable, through its landing in Jeddah on August 25, 2022.

Named Saudi Vision Cable, the project is inspired by the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The Saudi Vision Cable spans 1,160km connecting Jeddah, Yanbu, Dibba and Haql, the major subsea hubs in Red Sea cities of Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Vision Cable is privately owned by stc, supplied by Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN). The Saudi Vision Cable consists of 16 fiber pairs connecting stc's four cable landing stations in Jeddah, Yanbu, Duba, and Haql, designed with 18Tbps per fiber pair.

The Saudi Vision Cable will be a game changer for the subsea cables in the region, enabling a unique and low latency route linking the major subsea hubs in Red sea cities of Saudi Arabia. The cable will help in improving the cost efficiency and flexibility of the unified efficient fiber optic platform and provide access to all international cables in the landing stations and information centers of stc Group.

“Saudi Vision Cable provides communication between several international information centers,” CEO Olayan Alwetaid said. “It also achieves the raising level of the unified optical fiber platform that is cost-efficient and flexible, and provides access — low latency — to all international cables in the landing stations and information centers of the stc Group,” he added.
