The Bharat Lanka Cable System (BLCS) is a 320-km submarine cable system directly connecting India and Sri Lanka, jointly built by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT). The BLCS is also BSNL's first investment in international submarine cable system. The BLCS was launched in Oct, 2006 with an initial capacity of 40 Gbps and upgraded to 960 Gbps.
