China Telecom Global Limited (CTG) and SUNeVision jointly announced Friday that the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) has officially landed at SUNeVision’s HKIS-1 Cable Landing Station (CLS) located at Chung Hom Kok. The ADC cable system will also have a City PoP at SUNeVision's MEGA Plus carrier-neutral data center at Tseung Kwan O (TKO) industrial park.

The Asia Direct Cable (ADC) is one of the new generation Intra-Asia subsea cable systems connecting China Mainland, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, and other Southeast Asian countries. ADC, SJC2 and APRICOT will enable spectrum and fiber pair products for high capacity connectivity in the Japan-Hong Kong-Singapore digital corridor, while SEA-H2X and ALC will offer the similar products and services in Hong Kong - Singapore digital corridor.

The ADC cable system will feature eight fiber pairs, with a design capacity of more than 140 Tbps, supplied by NEC. The ADC consortium comprises CAT, China Telecom Global, China Unicom Global, PLDT Inc., Singtel, SoftBank Corp., Tata Communications and Viettel.

China Telecom Global is the landing party in Hong Kong, and partners with SUNeVision as landing partner to provide the cable landing facilities.

SUNeVision is the number one data center provider and connectivity hub in Hong Kong, owns and operates MEGA Campus including MEGA-i (Chai Wan), MEGA Plus (Tseung Kwan O), MEGA Two (Fotan), ONE (Kwun Tong) and JUMBO (Tsuen Wan). Especially, MEGA-i is the most connected global telco and ISP hub in Hong Kong.

In addition to the data centers, SUNeVision operates two carrier-neutral cable landing stations in Hong Kong, HKIS-1 and a new one under construction, both located at Chung Hom Kok. Besides SUNeVision's two cable landing stations, there is another existing cable landing station at Chung Hom Kok, owned and operated by GB21, a subsidiary of China Mobile International. The GB21's Chung Hom Kok CLS hosts EAC-C2CSJC and other subsea cables.

HKIS-1 was built with data center capabilities certified by ANSI/TIA-942 and direct backhaul access to MEGA Campus. Interconnecting with MEGA-i, which is home to around 15,000 cross-connects and 9 out of 11 City PoPs of international subsea cables in Hong Kong, users of ADC either via CLS or City PoP at MEGA Plus can enjoy one-stop-shop connectivity and interconnect with hundreds of providers through SUNeVision’s rich data centre ecosystem with high reliability and efficiency.
