AMX3/Tikal is a new ultrahigh capacity subsea cable connecting Puerto Barrios (Guatemala), Cancun (Mexico) and Boca Raton (US), with options to incorporate additional branching units to serve other destinations.
AMX3/Tikal cable system is jointly developed by América Móvil and Telxius. América Móvil names it AMX3, and Tikal by Telxius.
Telxius has developed Tikal Cancun Extension, independently and on its own.
AMX3/Tikal cable system features an initial capacity of 190 Tbps (upgraded to 380 Tbps according to Telxius' latest announcement).
Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) has been awarded the supply contract.
The AMX3/Tikal cable system will be ready to operate in 2025.
