简体中文(中国) Infinera and PCCW Global announced on Tuesday the completion of a significant deployment on the PEACE cable system between Marseille (France), Yeroskipou (Cyprus) and Abu Talat. Utilizing Infinera’s ICE technology, PCCW Global now offers network operators the ability to significantly increase capacity per fiber pair up to 25Tbps on these critical Middle East and Mediterranean fiber routes.
Network operators are continually expanding cloud-based services to create more connected communities, driving the need for subsea network upgrades globally. PCCW Global’s capacity upgrade on the PEACE cable system is one of a series of upgrades planned for this year.
The PEACE cable system is the first and so far the only open cable system in the Mediterranean Sea, it can support numerous service providers in the region.
By leveraging Infinera’s ICE technology on the GX Series Compact Modular Platform, PCCW Global is able to reach individual wavelength speeds of 650Gbps resulting in more capacity, with less hardware, and providing up to 25 Tbps per fiber pair. The combination will enable network operators to efficiently provide high-capacity services between the Middle East and the Mediterranean region.
PCCW Global and PEACE Cable International Network Co., Ltd (PEACE Cable International) jointly announced on the same day the completion of the PEACE cable system’s Mediterranean segment (PEACE-MED).
The PEACE cable system deploys a state-of-the-art “system-within-a-system” configuration and open cable design, that gives each party the required flexibility to design its own subsystem with reconfigurable bandwidth for different points over the lifetime of the cable.
The wet plant of the PEACE cable system is supplied by HMN Technology (formerly Huawei Marine Networks), designed with the latest 200G transmission technology and WSS ROAMD BU technology, initially capable of delivering capacity of more than 16Tbps per fiber pair.
The upgrade with Infinera’s ICE solutions, demonstrates PEACE cable as open cable system and its upgradability to support higher wavelength speeds.
