The cable enters the South African EEZ (approximately 370 km from the seashore) and continues through Territorial Waters (approximately 22 km from the seashore), and reaches the Cable Landing Station (CLS) at Pipeline Beach in Umbogotwini, KwaZulu-Natal.
Liquid Telecom South Africa will provide fibre backhaul to extend the METISS cable systme to Teraco data center.
Liquid Telecom operates Africa’s largest independent fibre network, spanning almost 70,000km.
The METISS cable system is expected to be completed and operational by July 2020.
