Perth is a major location for submarine cables landing in Western Australia.

Currently, SEA-ME-WE 3 (SMW3) lands at the Perth Cable Landing Station.

In additional, the Australia-Singapore Cable (ASC) lands at the Shenton Park CLS in Perth,  Indigo Central and Indigo Central land at NEXTDC Perth P2 data center.

In September 2007, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) made a declaration for a submarine cable protection zone off the coast of Perth, which

  • extends 60 nautical miles (112km) off City Beach
  • extends to a water depth of 2000 metres
  • extends 1 nautical mile each side of the cable

Both SMW3 and Indigo cables ran through the Submarine Cable Protection Zone off Perth and land at the beach manholes at Floreat Beach.
