PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), a subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia alongside PT Citranet Sarana Digital (“Citra Connect”), have officially held a Ceremonial for the Cable Landing Station (CLS) at Nongsa Digital Park, Batam.

Having previously using Tanjung Bemban as its majority landing points, Telin opted to initiate a new Cable Landing Station (CLS) location in Nongsa. This CLS serves as an integral part of the strategic infrastructure project connecting Indonesia with the rest of World, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Indonesia's international connectivity widely known as Indonesia Cable Express (ICE) Submarine Cable which consists of 7 cable system.

ICE system is a future-forward initiative that establishes vital links where one of the purposes to unlock Batam and Indonesia not only to major cities in Indonesia and neighboring countries like

Singapore and Malaysia, hence it will be seamlessly connected with Middle East, East Asia down to Australia as well as USA. This system demonstrates Telin’s commitment to actualize the vision of a digitally connected Indonesia that leads in the global digital revolution.

The construction of the Batam CLS solidifies Batam’s role as Indonesia’s primary gateway for international connectivity, fostering digital and economic development in western Indonesia and supporting regional integration, as well as the growing epicentrum of Data Center in Indonesia and South East Asia. This CLS construction represents a significant step forward in advancing Indonesia’s telecommunications infrastructure, occupied by robust and cutting-edge technology submarine cable systems.

The Nongsa Digital Park Special Economic Zone in Batam is a strategic initiative to advance Indonesia’s digital economy by combining advanced education, cutting-edge infrastructure, and data center investments to create high quality jobs for Indonesian talent.

The CLS NDP Batam marks the beginning of a transformative journey for Indonesia’s digital landscape. This strategic infrastructure will empower Indonesia to position itself as a regional leader in digital connectivity. By enabling faster, more reliable global communications, it paves the way for unprecedented technological advancements, economic opportunities, and deeper integration with the global digital economy.

According to Budi Satria Dharma Purba, CEO of Telin, the CLS NDP Batam will serve as landing points of 4 cable systems predominantly ICE Cable Systems. Telin is working on 3 international subsea cable projects and another domestic Indonesia Cable Express (ICE) project with 7 new systems. Telin is building 6 Cable Landing Stations, 2 in Batam, 2 in Jakarta area, 1 in Surabaya and 1 in Manado.

Telin is a member of the Bifrost cable system. It is building new cable landing stations for the Bifrost cable system, one in Kalasey, Minahasa, and the other in Pantai Mutiara Jarkata. Telin has participated in the SEA-ME-WE 6 project. Telin is collarborating BW Digital on the Hawaiki Nui project which is expected to land in Jakarta and Batam.

Citra Connect is an Indonesian provider of connectivity services and digital solutions, established as a subsidiary of Citramas Group, the land owner of the Nongsa Digital Park in Batam. In early December, BW Digital and Citramas Group announced to deepen their partnership, and BW Digital became a joint venture partner and majority shareholder of Citra Connect.

Earlier in March 2024, BW Digital and Citramas Group signed agreements for the joint development of a carrier-neutral digital ecosystem in Batam’s Nongsa Digital Park (NDP), Indonesia. This strategic partnership follows BW Digital’s acquisition of more than 55,000 square meters of land at the Citramas-owned Nongsa Digital Park in Batam, to build its inaugural data centre in South-East Asia and strengthen its Asia-Pacific digital infrastructure portfolio. With a capacity of up to 80MW, BW Digital's NDP1 data centre has been designed to meet high density requirements and provide scalable and cost-effective solutions for enterprise, cloud and AI workloads from Q4 2025.

In addition to collarboration on Hawaiki Nui project, BW Digital and TELIN announced in July a strategic partnership to develop and construct the Nongsa-Changi submarine cable system linking Batam and Singapore, to provide robust and reliable links for DC-to-DC connectivity and high-density AI applications between Batam and Singapore.

The Nongsa-Changi submarine cable system will land DIRECTLY in the new Cable Landing Station (CLS) at Nongsa Digital Park (CLS NDP Batam),  expected to be ready for service in Q4 2025.
