The EU Commission granted AFR-IX telecom’s ATMED-DG (Atlantic-Mediterranean Data Gateway) project €7,79 million to finance the deployment of a pair of dark fibre between Lisbon, Zahara de los Atunes, Barcelona, Marseille and Mazara del Vallo on its Medusa cable system, a 8,700km strategic project to improve connectivity between the countries of the European Union.

center3, a subsidiary of stc group, on behalf of the consortium partners of EMC Subsea Cable Company Ltd (EMC Company) and Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN), announced the signing of the supply contract for the construction of two subsea and terrestrial data cables (EMC West) that will connect Saudi Arabia with Europe. The second phase of the EMC System (EMC Global) that will connect Saudi Arabia with Asia is being finalised and announced soon.

Orange Tunisia and Medusa Submarine Cable System signed an agreement on May 11 to deploy a submarine cable linking Tunisia (Bizerte) to Europe, via France (Marseilles). This cable will be built in compliance with the latest international standards and rules and will benefit the socio-economic participants in Tunisia.

Vocus Completes Final Segment of DJSC Connecting Darwin to Singapore

Vocus has connected its new $100m submarine fibre cable that will position Darwin as a key digital hub for the Asia Pacific region. The new 1,000km cable links Vocus’ existing Australia Singapore Cable (ASC) which runs from Perth to Singapore with the existing North-West Cable System which runs from Darwin to Port Hedland. Combined, they form the new Darwin-Jakarta-Singapore Cable (DJSC) system, stretching 7,700 kilometres between Darwin and Singapore, opening up low-latency connectivity into Asia for Australia’s North, particularly resources operators in the Pilbara.

Liquid Dataport, a business of Cassava Technologies, a pan-African technology group, announced it has launched the first terrestrial fibre connecting Mombasa to Johannesburg. This new route, including a breakthrough and unique fibre link across DRC between Goma and Kananga, provides multiple landlocked countries with extra redundancy, resilience, connectivity to numerous data centres and cloud resources, and, most significantly, an alternative option in the event of a subsea cable outage between Kenya and South Africa.

According to the FCC Report, Meta has filed an Application for a License to Land and Operate a Private Fiber-Optic Submarine Cable System Connecting Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with Santander, Spain, to be Known as the Anjana System, a new generation transatlantic subsea cable with 24 fiber pairs.

FPT Telecom Invests $87 million in Asia Link Cable (ALC) Project
