According to 24horas, the National Television of Chile, Google’s Curie subsea cable has landed in Chile, connecting Valparaiso and California to the Google network. In earlier this year, Google has selected Equinix LA4 as its Los Angeles cable landing station (CLS) for the Curie subsea cable system.
Infinera announced that Kanawa, a new subsea cable owned and operated by Orange in the Caribbean, now offers reliable, high-capacity network services for its existing customers, operators and internet content providers who require additional capacity. Kanawa is powered by Infinera’s fourth-generation Infinite Capacity Engine (ICE4)-based XTS 3600 platform and Infinera Instant Bandwidth.
According to PEACE, PEACE Cable International Network Co., Ltd. (PEACE) and Cyber Internet Services Pvt Ltd(Cybernet) signed a Cable Landing Party Agreement on April 16, 2019 at Capacity North Africa in Cairo, follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties in 2018. Cybernet, amongst Pakistan’s oldest ISPs, is the PEACE Cable Landing Station Partner in Pakistan and has been entrusted with deploying PEACE Pakistan Cable Landing Station (CLS) and managing its operations. Cybernet will build the first carrier-neutral cable landing station in Karachi, Pakistan. PEACE cable is targeted for completion in Q1, 2020.
Sparkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top ten global operators, announced on April 12 a long-term investment for the deployment of BlueMed submarine cable linking Palermo with Genoa. The BlueMed cable system will connect Sparkle’s Sicily Hub open data center in Palermo and Milan’s rich digital ecosystem.
According to Google and SubCom, Google's Dunant cable system will implement SubCom’s space division multiplexing technology (SDM) and high fiber count (HFC) architecture. Dunant cable system will be the first ever in-service undersea cable featuring a 12 fiber-pair SDM design. Dunant will also deliver record-breaking capacity of 250 terabits per second across the Atlantic.
The DARE1 consortium comprising Djibouti Telecom and Somtel and its supplier SubCom announced in later March the completion of marine survey for the Djibouti Africa Regional Express 1 (DARE1) submarine cable system. The DARE1 cable route has been also finalized, adding a new cable landing station in Bosaso, Somalia. The DARE1 cable system will be deployed with 40 x 300 Gbps DWDM technology.
RTI Connectivity Pte. Ltd. (RTI) announced on Monday that the Japan-Guam-Australia South Cable System (JGA South) construction of is on schedule and will be commercially available by the end of the year. The JGA South undersea cable and repeaters are being loaded for marine installation. JGA South connects sealessly with SEA-US, JGA North, HK-G at Piti cable landing station in Guam.
According to SubCom, H2 Cable and SubCom signed on Tuesday the contract for the supply and installation of the H2 submarine cable system. The H2 cable will be the first to connect Australia and Hong Kong with direct access to China. The H2 cable system is designed with for a number of branching units that can be deployed to locations including Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Island, Guam, Queensland, Hawaii and Los Angeles.

EMACOM and the EllaLink Group announced on Tuesday that their partnership on the EllaLink cable system has extended further in order to meet the growing capacity demands of the islands of Madeira. EMACOM currently own a dedicated fiber pair on the EllaLink system which is designed to carry over 24Tbps of traffic. New plans under discussion propose to increase the number of direct fiber pairs between Funchal and mainland Portugal in order to provide EMACOM with additional capacity in excess of 70Tbps.
Bulk Infrastructure announced recently that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has signed an agreement for the use of Bulk´s ownership in the HAVFRUE trans-Atlantic submarine cable and subsequent carrier neutral Data Center facilities. The HAVFRUE subsea cable system comprises a trunk cable connecting New Jersey, USA to the Jutland Peninsula of Denmark and branches to Ireland and Norway, with a system capacity of 108Tbps.
