Submarine Cable Networks is founded, designed and managed by Winston Qiu.

Winston QiuWinston has been in the Telecom industry since 1996, started as a duty engineer at the NOC of Shantou Telecom, a local branch of China Telecom.

Winston entered the submarine cable industry in early 1997 for the construction of Shantou Cable Landing Station where SMW3, China-US CN and APCN-2 cables land. Since 2001, Winston has been working on the global network architecture in China Netcom and China Unicom, insightful on both submarine cable networks and global Internet, from both technical and marketing point of views. In 2002, Winston led a team to deploy and launch an overseas Point of Presence (PoP) in the United States, marking as the first overseas PoP of Chinese telecom industry. As a key player, Winston designed the global network platform for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, contributing to and sharing an honor of the exceptional Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

In early 2011, Winston launched this website, Submarine Cable Networks, with an innovative design and idea to share various information on submarine cable systems and networks worldwide and insight analysis on capacity market, and discuss with the peers.
