Transworld Associates Private Limited (TWA) announced on September 5th that TWA has completed the deployment of SEA-ME-WE 5 at its landing station in Karachi. TWA is the exclusive participant from Pakistan in the SEA-ME-WE 5 consortium. The SEA-ME-WE 5 will help meet Pakistan’s high speed connectivity demands.
This new 20,000 km SEA-ME-WE 5 cable will connect Pakistan to 16 countries: Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, France, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Myanmar, Oman, Qatar, Republic of Djibouti, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Yemen.
The SEA-ME-WE 5 will introduce the concept of end to end connection to open and neutral Points of Presence (PoP’s) both in Europe and Asia. With 24 Tbps of capacity SEA-ME-WE 5 will become the intercontinental super highway releasing the pressure on the already highly utilized cables between Europe and Asia.
With SEA-ME-WE 5, TWA is positioned to play an even more significant role in the future to service the growing bandwidth requirements of Pakistan. The SEA-ME-WE 5 will have both short as well as long term benefits. Firstly, it will improve TWA reach in the regions where TWA operate in. Secondly, TWA will be able to deliver resilient and redundant network solutions with advantages such as flexibility and reliability for our customers. Thirdly, the system will offer a much improved quality of service experience for our customers with lowest latency connectivity solutions.
Transworld already operates the TW1 undersea cable and is the only private operator in Pakistan.
