Axin Limited, founded in 2010, is fully invested by the Sino Telecommunication, and plays major role in the national broad band project of New Zealand. Sino Telecommunication is not an afilliate or a subsidiary of China Telecom. And the Trans-Tasman cable is called as Optikor Network.
Update 1: according to Reuters, France Telecom has expressed its interest in principle in Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN), citing that France Telecom has been looking for months at how ASN and its FT Marine unit could work better together. Update 2: according to Reuters, France's sovereign wealth fund FSI will bid on Alcatel-Lucent's submarine business at 600-700 million euros. The French government is concerned about Alcatel-Lucent's intellectual property could fall into the hands of foreign banks.
In an interview later, it is said neither China Telecom nor China Communications Service has invested in the said Trans-Tasman Cable.
ASSC-1 Communications Group announced in Jan 2012 to deploy ASSC-1 cable system connecting Perth, Jakarta and Singapore. And the ASSC-1 cable will land at MCS Jakarta cable landing station. The ASSC-1 cable system will replace the so called MCS Austrlia Extension.
